What is the difference between 3D ultrasound and 4D ultrasound?

3D is a still image while 4D adds the dimension of motion so it looks like a video. With our Real Time technology you can see exactly what your baby is doing at that very moment.

What is your facility like?

We pride ourselves on being an inviting, relaxing, comfortable, and spacious environment for you and your family. We are also located in an up-scale retail location rather than a sterile looking office building.

What training have your technicians received?

We've all heard the stories about people being told the wrong gender of their baby so this is a very important question! While most elective ultrasound studios typically only provide a few days to a few weeks of training in elective ultrasound, our technicians are required to complete a 6 month long rigorous training course for a certification. We are the only studio in the area who offers a 100% accuracy or double your money back because we are confident we will tell you right the first time. Our technicians also specialize in attaining the very best 4D images possible of you little one.

Is 3D and 4D ultrasound safe for me and my baby?

3D and 4D ultrasounds use the same frequency as your doctor uses in the normal 2D ultrasound. Ultrasounds have been used for over 35 years and there have been no proven side effects from its proper use. We strictly adhere to the FDA's standards.

Do you accept insurance?

No, we do not accept insurance because this is an elective procedure.

When is the best time to have a 3d/4d ultrasound?

Many mothers visit Baby Bloom multiple times during pregnancy to see their baby at different stages. We offer 2D Ultrasound as early as 9 weeks and can begin capturing baby in 3D4D at 14 weeks and beyond. Between 28 and 32 weeks, your baby develops more fat and their facial features become more defined, so we recommend coming in for face shots at this time. After 36 weeks, it becomes more and more difficult to obtain good pictures since the baby is running out of room. However all babies are different and we have been successful in obtaining great images all the way up to 38 weeks.

How good are you at determining the sex of the baby?

Our technicians are highly trained in accurate gender determination. We offer this at 14 weeks and beyond. As long as the mom-to-be drinks the recommended amount of water in the days prior to her session it's extremely likely that we will be able to tell her pink or blue. We never ever guess at it, so if we aren't 100% sure we offer a free rescan as long as water drinking requirements have been met. This is rarely necessary as long as amniotic fluid is clear. We also confirm the gender from two different positions, not just a bottom shot which can be deceptive.

How can I be sure to get the best possible 3D/4D pictures?

Most doctors recommend maintaining a healthy fluid intake, especially while you are pregnant. This will help to ensure your amniotic fluid is clear as well as full. There are many things out of the sonographer's control like the baby's position, the mother's skin type and build, amount of amniotic fluid, etc., but we have found that if the mom-to-be drinks 6-8 (16.9 oz) bottles of water daily for the 4 days leading up to her session we can almost always get good images if baby is facing the right way.

What if my baby doesn't turn the right way and we don't get good photos?

Unlike many places, we offer a free rescan if we aren't able to get at least half of the baby's face. However, we have many tricks to get baby to move into a good position the first time you come in to help lower the chance this will be necessary. *there is a $20 fee applied for rescans resulting from insufficient fluid intake.

What should I do prior to the 3D/4D appointment?

Drink plenty of water even several days before your appointment to ensure your amniotic fluid is clear. We recommend 6-8 16.9oz water bottles daily for the 4 days leading up to your session. You also DO NOT need to have a full bladder for an ultrasound at Baby Bloom.

How long is the 3D/4D ultrasound session?

Depending on the ultrasound package that you select, your session will last between 5 and 30 minutes. However, plan on spending 30 minutes to an hour at our studio so that we can send you home with memories to last a life time. Please arrive a few minutes early to fill out our paperwork. *Fees will apply for clients running more than 15 minutes late. Please be on time.

Are family and friends welcome to join?

Yes! We encourage you to bring your friends and family to share this special moment with you. Children are also welcome. At our Valdosta, Ga location our ultrasound room can comfortably seat 10 plus people, but more are welcome if they would like to stand and watch. We've had up to 28 people at one time!

How can I pay for the ultrasound?

We currently accept major credit/debit cards and cash.

When do I get my 3D/4D pictures and videos?

Same day

Will my doctor be contacted about the 3d/4d ultrasound?

We do not contact your doctor prior to the scan since this is an elective procedure. If we do see something wrong during the scan, we will advise you to see your physician. We do require however that you currently are under prenatal care and if you have any concerns, you should ask your doctor. Ultrasound technicians in general cannot make a diagnosis.
